The American Fork Hospital Endoscopy Lab has 8 intake rooms, 6 recovery rooms, and 3 procedure rooms. Our intake and recovery areas are separate, and the nurses generally take care of two patients, but three at the most. There are 4 positions that the nurses work: intake, procedure room, recovery, and patient calls. Our endoscopy techs are either working in the scope cleaning room, or in procedures.
Our day starts at 0630 and ends around 1700 Monday through Friday. Most of our caregivers work 10 hour shifts. We do have on call that is required for emergency cases that come up evenings and weekends.
We perform the standard EGD, and colonoscopy, but we also perform multiple GI specialty procedures, PEG placements, bronchoscopies, and ERCPS. This can be fast paced work, but you’ll be working with a great team and great physicians.
